Fiery Zinger Burger Recipe
This recipe captures the essence of a spicy, crispy Zinger burger, inspired by the popular fast-food chain.
Ingredients:
For the Chicken:
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
1/2 cup buttermilk (or plain yogurt thinned with milk)
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust for desired spice level)
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Salt to taste
For the Coating:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon paprika
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust for desired spice level)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Salt to taste
For the Burger:
Hamburger buns
Lettuce leaves
Tomato slices
Onion slices
Spicy mayo (recipe below)
Sriracha mayo (recipe below)
Spicy Mayo:
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon sriracha sauce (adjust for desired spice level)
Pinch of garlic powder
Pinch of onion powder
Sriracha Mayo:
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon sriracha sauce (adjust for desired spice level)
1 teaspoon ketchup
Instructions:
Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, combine buttermilk, oil, lemon juice, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt. Add chicken breasts or thighs and toss to coat. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, or preferably overnight, in the refrigerator.
Prepare the Coating: In a shallow dish, whisk together flour, panko breadcrumbs, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
Assemble the Breading Station: Set up three shallow dishes: one with the marinade, one with beaten eggs (optional), and one with the dry coating mixture.
Bread the Chicken: Remove chicken from the marinade and dredge in the flour mixture. Dip in the beaten eggs (if using) and then coat generously with the dry coating mixture.
